WaterSums takes another step

Patterns allow the variation of demands, reservoir levels, pump speed and other variables to be specified for network analysis. WaterSums 1.0.5 now supports the adding of new time patterns and editing of existing ones in a special pattern editor. New curves can also be added and the details of the curve are displayed in a dedicated curve editor.

As well as these new features and others that are detailed in the Release Notes, various bugs have been fixed, mostly relating to curve editing.

More functionality, more fixes

Large steps have been taken by WaterSums software since the last release. In a change to the user interface, when moving the cursor over the map, the X,Y coordinates in the map are displayed in the main status bar. This facility can then be used when adding map labels by clicking in the map area where you want the label to be.

New networks can also be added. Printing support has been added with control over printer settings. A project summary can now be printed, with a print preview option.

Many other new features have been added and various bugs fixed. See the release notes for full details. WaterSums 1.0.4 is now available for download.

Alpha, beta and release candidate versions and Automatic Updates

If you are still using an alpha, beta or release candidate version of WaterSums, you may have noticed that you are not being automatically offered the upgrade to the WaterSums 1.0 series.

You will need to specifically download and install the latest released version and from then on you will be offered the latest upgrades in the 1.0 series. Sorry about that!

WaterSums 1.0.3 released today

After a couple of weeks without an update release, WaterSums 1.0.3 has come along. This release provides the ability to add Pipes, Pumps and Valves to networks. Labels are also displayed in the map view. New 'Add' options have been added to the Network menu and to the context menu displayed when right-clicking on network heading branches.

Adding of Reservoirs and Tanks is now included. The screenshot shows the compact tab format including the error symbols displayed if values entered are not valid. For example, if nothing is entered into a mandatory field or if letters are entered into a numeric field. Detailed help is provided for each field. If the Add button is pressed when any values are invalid, the focus will be changed to the first invalid field - even if it is located on a different tab.

Various bugs have also been fixed.

Vigorous work still continues. Note that the amazing introductory price is still available until the end of 19th April, Alaska time, for early adopters who can see the potential of the software! See the $15 for 15 days promotion.

Adding Reservoirs and Tanks

Further advancements with WaterSums, but not released quite yet: adding of Reservoirs has arrived. Adding of Tanks is on the way...

WaterSums 1.0.1

With this new release, WaterSums has taken another significant step forward.  Users can now add new junctions to a network with full undo and redo support.  To add a junction, right-click on the Junctions heading in a network in the Project tree and select the Add Junction option.  A tabbed dialog panel is displayed allowing the details of the junction to be entered and providing these features to help the designer:

Made it - WaterSums 1.0!

At about 6:45pm on Saturday (about 11:45 pm on Friday in western Alaska!), the first commercial release of the WaterSums software hit the web. Unfortunately it took until about 7:15 before the version would install properly without requiring the pre-release versions to be uninstalled, but it now does. so thanks to everyone who helped, particularly to God for his help when things got tough.

Map View Control

The Map View is a very important part of WaterSums. A map tab is provided for each network in a WaterSums project and these are displayed in tabs next to the Project tree. As well as the toolbar buttons, there keyboard/mouse shortcuts provided by the Adobe SVG Viewer used by WaterSums. Here is a quick list...

WaterSums Release Candidate (0.2.4)

We made a decision to release one more pre-release version of WaterSums as part of the final testing process. There is some new functionality in this release with the display of animated flow direction arrows after analysis is complete. Memory usage has been reduced and random crashes when multiple networks were displayed have been fixed. New zoom options have also been added to the toolbar.

The commercial release is still planned for 'today' (DV), but probably not 'today' in Australia! Australia is ahead of most of the world in time, so we will be making the most of it on this occasion. However, you can still expect to find the commercial release available before the end of Friday arrives in Western Alaska.
